Failure of Distal Femoral Locking Plate: Case Report

چکیده
The Less Invasive Stabilization System (LISS) and titanium distal femoral locking compression plate (DF-LCP) was designed by the AO Group to combine the advantages of both interlocked intra-medullary nailing and biological plating techniques in one system. The stiffness of the construct is similar to a 95° condylar plate, dynamic condylar screw, or condylar buttress plate. We report a case of the DF-LCP and screw breakage. Early weight bearing and lack of callus consolidation precipitated failure of the implant. Non-weight bearing and early autologous bone grafting may be indicated in open distal femoral fractures.

Supracondylar Osteotomy in Valgus Knee: Angle Blade Plate Versus Locking Compression Plate
Background: There are few studies comparing the biomechanical properties of angled blade plate and locking compression plates in supracondylar osteotomy. In the current randomized study, we prospectively compared the clinical and radiological outcomes of supracondylar osteotomy using these two plates. Methods: Forty patients with valgus knee malalignment were randomly assigned to two equal nu...
متن کاملA Pitfall in Fixation of Distal Humeral Fractures with Pre-Contoured Locking Compression Plate
Anatomically precontoured locking plates are intended to facilitate the fixation of articular fractures and particularly those associated with osteoporosis. Fractures of the distal humerus are relatively uncommon injuries where operative intervention can be exceptionally challenging. The distal humeral trochlea provides a very narrow anatomical window through which to pass a fixed-angle locking...
متن کاملThe arthroscopic-assisted removal of a distal femoral condylar locking plate--a case report.
We describe a minimally invasive procedure for removal of a distal femur locking plate using arthroscopic assistance. Using lateral accessory portals, we performed arthroscopically-assisted removal of distal locking screws. Under fluoroscopic image, proximal screws were removed from the diaphysis. The accessory lateral portal sites used to remove the distal screws were connected. Through this a...
متن کاملFunctional Results of Unstable (Type 2) Distal Clavicle Fractures Treated with Superior Anterior Locking Plate
Background: The treatment of distal clavicle fracture is always a challenge, as it is mostly unstable and has higherrate of delayed union, malunion, non-union and associated acromioclavicular arthritis. So the management of thesefractures remains controversial. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the functional results of Type 2 distal endclavicle fractures treated with superior anterior l...
متن کاملBilateral Simultaneous Femoral Neck and Shafts Fractures – A Case Report
Simultaneous fractures of the femoral neck and shaft are not common injuries, though they cannot be considered rare. Herein, we report our experience with a patient with bilateral occurance of this injury. Up to the best of our knowkedge this is the first case reported in literature in which correct diagnosis was made initially. Both femurs were fixed using broad 4.5 mm dynamic compression pl...
